Varieties of Braces for Adults

Our team will speak with you directly to determine which treatment option you need. Here are some of the possibilities you may come across.

Invisalign

Invisalign is a transparent retainer that slides over your teeth. These retainers can be conveniently removed at any time. Feel free to eat and drink as you normally would! Worried about how it will feel? Don’t be. We measure your teeth using X-rays and 3D imaging technology. Most patients wear Invisalign for  9 – 15 months. Your Invisalign will be customized to fit you – and only you! Invisalign is available for adult clients and demands fewer visits to our office.

InBrace

Similar to traditional braces, but with a noticeable twist. While InBrace isn’t quite invisible, it does fit on the back side of your teeth. This way, you can smile wide without fear of anyone seeing it. Unless you divulge it, no one will have any idea that you’re wearing braces! How’s that for a deal?

Traditional Braces

An oldie, but a goldie! This is the image most people have when they think of “braces.” They’ve earned something of a stigma over the years, but Smiles of Palmetto Bay intends to change that. Our braces are compact and comfortable. A major advantage of metal braces is less frequent office visits for you!

Clear Braces

You may also hear clear braces referred to as ceramic, tooth-colored, or aesthetic. This is because they are designed to blend in with the teeth. Clear braces empower you to continue your daily routine without fretting about your appearance. They are more discreet and less obvious than metal braces. As a general rule, our doctors recommend clear braces for most adults.

Retainers

Imagine that you went through a successful course of treatment. You spent about 18 months (or more) of your life strenuously sticking to a regimen that Dr. Ross and Dr. Martinez provided you. But then you notice that your teeth begin to shift! How can you stop this from happening? The answer: a retainer. How much your teeth will slide is different from person to person. But if you wear your retainer as our team recommends, you’ll have nothing to worry about.

TADs

TAD is an abbreviation for temporary anchorage device. It can enhance your treatment by helping your teeth slide into new positions with a little more speed. The “A” in “TAD” stands for “anchorage.” So think of it like an anchor, holding your gums and chompers in a specific position.

Benefits of Adult Braces

Renew Your Body’s Health

Proper brushing and flossing contribute to oral health. But they aren’t magic. If teeth are out of alignment, brushing and flossing may not be able to resolve the problem. Misshapen teeth create nooks and crannies in which plaque festers. If left untreated, excess plaque can lead to sore or bleeding gums, pain in the jaw, and headaches.

But the physical ailments don’t stop with oral hygiene. Especially later in life, irregularly shaped teeth can complicate our ability to chew food. This means that a task as simple as eating has now become a choking hazard. And what’s worse, swallowing unchewed food can cause severe abdominal discomfort.

Greater Self-Worth

An improved smile doesn’t just change how you look. It alters how you feel about yourself. Adult braces can influence how you perceive your own face. The American Association of Orthodontists estimates that nearly 2 million adults receive orthodontic treatment. But Smiles of Palmetto Bay wants our clients to think beyond numbers. That figure represents people with fuller lives. Whether at yourself in the mirror or a passing stranger, smiling elevates your confidence. Visit us in person to find out why changing lives is our forte!

Stronger Teeth Mean a Stronger Mind

Still not convinced that orthodontic intervention is right for you? The doctors’ standard for our Palmetto Bay office is that we intend to change lives. And that means much more than rearranging teeth. Adult braces can decrease anxiety and depression and boost overall mental health. Furthermore, if you like your smile, you’ll want to show it off. Smiling makes your brain pump out neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine. These neurotransmitters influence your motivation and sense of well-being. And guess what? People who feel good about themselves smile more! Our team wants to help you tap into this kind of healthy feedback loop.

Put Braces on Your Budget

Our team understands how hard it can be to obtain care for ourselves and our families. Above, we mentioned that technology had provided us with more options to serve you. In addition, orthodontic remedies are more affordable now than they have been in the past. Dr. Ross and Dr. Martinez have resolved to never recommend anything a client doesn’t need. We’re happy to work with you to design a payment plan that fits your budget. Have insurance questions? No problem! We can work with your insurance company to ensure you get the best possible outcome.

Our team isn’t just in the business of fixing teeth. We want to help people. To that end, consider that braces aren’t just for young folks. Your smile is not a lost cause. You deserve to feel good about yourself. And there’s no time like the present to give yourself such a gift.
